Hey Sports Tech fans,
BT Sports might be up for sale in the UK which could make for a very interesting bidding war between the big tech companies looking to enter the sports space in the UK like Amazon, DAZN and Disney+ as well as traditional broadcasters like ITV.
BT are a broadband and 5G provider in the UK and it looks like they are looking to double down on that part of the business.
They are considering all options in a potential sale, full take over, joint venture, partial sale.
For tech companies like Amazon and DAZN it provides a great way to enter the UK market with an existing infrastructure and subscriber base.
After Sky was acquired by Comcast it would make sense for BT to look to inject new capital in order to compete.
Elsewhere Aaron Rodgers launched the IMDB for the sports world: https://www.osdbsports.com/
It lists traditional sports stats as well as contracts, endorsements, investments, charities fan mail addresses and for paid users the contact details of their representatives.
Rodgers has been extremely active in investments off the field in recent years and you can check those out on his profile:
It only covers the NFL, NBA and MLB for now but you can easily see it translating to other sports as well but the details of player contracts in soccer are much more closely guarded than American sports.
Have a great sporting weekend,
