Hi Sports Tech Fans,
Sports Tech is all about the marrying of the old with the new and the new taking on the old guard of the sports world.
This continues with DAZN making new waves in live sports streaming, entering new markets, signing deals that in the past would have only been made by a traditional broadcaster.
With eSports continuing to go mainstream you have established sports brands entering the space to hit a new generation of fans and new markets (see the Wolves and Weibo story below).
With Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness open to entering the space, we have reached a point where its not seen as a risk for sports team to enter when one of the most traditional clubs, with one of the most traditional presidents is open to the idea.
With AI entering the coach world, how long will it be before every coach in sports has an AI assistant on the sidelines?
With Caesers buying a stake in DraftKings, the old guard of the gambling world are continuing to pour money into tech based gambling products as the US moves closer and closer to a fully legal sports betting environment.
The media pick of the week this week is an interview with Sky Sports MD Barney Francis on the state of the media world, OTT, new entrants and how the traditional broadcasters can take advantage. (Last story below)
